山並みの斜面に沿って棚田が広がっている。
山側には雄大な山系を背負い、下方には大きな湖を望む。
その棚田の一画は、いつしか造園業者の土場となり、その後管理者も去り、現在は植物が気ままに生い茂る荒れ地となっている。

この計画は、この放置された区画を周辺の棚田風景と連続するように再び造成し、農の営みと上質な休息が地続きに混ざり合うリトリート施設として再生するものです。

訪れる人は田植えや稲刈りを通して土や水、季節の移ろいを身体で感じ、宿泊棟やレストランでは、静けさ、眺望、食、余白のある時間に包まれながら心身を回復していく。

敷地には棚田形状に合わせて4段の水平面を造成し、宿泊棟とロビー・レストラン棟を田と交互に配置した。

田、法面、動線、建築が連続し、棚田と施設が地続きに混ざり合うランドスケープをつくる。

石垣、排出土を用いた版築、鋼矢板など、造成と建築が一体となる構法を計画し、土壌や農作物に与える影響を考慮して素材を選定している。

春には田植え、夏には稲の成長を眺め、秋には稲刈りを行い、冬には静かな棚田の風景の中で休息する。

Terraced rice fields stretch along a mountainside, framed by a dramatic mountain range above and a vast lake below.

One section of these fields was once used as a storage yard for a landscaping company. After years of abandonment, it has become an overgrown landscape reclaimed by nature.

This project restores the neglected site, reshaping it to reconnect with the surrounding terraced landscape and transforming it into a retreat where agriculture and quiet hospitality exist as one continuous experience.

Guests immerse themselves in the rhythms of the seasons—planting rice in spring, harvesting in autumn, and experiencing the textures of soil, water, and changing light. Between these moments, the guest rooms and restaurant offer stillness, panoramic views, local food, and generous spaces for rest and reflection.

The site is re-terraced into four horizontal levels that follow the existing topography. Guest cabins and the lobby/restaurant are arranged alternately with the rice fields, allowing farmland, slopes, pathways, and architecture to merge into a single landscape.

Stone retaining walls, rammed earth made from excavated soil, and steel sheet piles integrate the process of land formation with the architecture itself, while carefully selected materials minimize their impact on the surrounding soil and agricultural environment.

Here, architecture does not stand apart from the landscape—it becomes part of the living cycle of the terraced fields, where cultivation, nature, and retreat coexist throughout the year.
