​宿泊観光複合施設（計画中）

琵琶湖を巡るサイクリストと、この土地に暮らし続けてきた人々。その異なる時間軸が交差する場として、コミュニティ複合施設「BI:WAC」を計画した。町家が連なる街並みのスケールと呼応し、軒を連ねた低層の構えと焼杉の外装により、地域に積層してきた記憶とシームレスに接続する。道路に沿って大きく張り出した軒下空間は、内と外、旅と日常を緩やかに媒介する中間領域として、人の気配と関係性を引き寄せる。宿泊、カフェ、ランドリー、ワークスペースといった機能は単なる用途の集積ではなく、異なる営みが重なり合う環境として編み直される。ここでは、移動する身体と定住する暮らしが交錯し、時間は連続的に更新されていく。場所に内在する風土と文化の層を引き出しながら、新たな風景の生成を試みる建築である。
 

BI:WAC is conceived as a place where different temporalities intersect—those of cyclists moving through the landscape of Lake Biwa and those of local residents rooted in the life of the town.
Responding to the scale of the surrounding machiya streetscape, the building adopts a low horizontal form with continuous eaves and a charred cedar façade, seamlessly engaging with the accumulated memory of the place.

The deep eave along the street operates as an intermediary realm, mediating between inside and outside, travel and everyday life, drawing in human presence and fostering relationships. Programs such as accommodation, café, laundry, and workspace are not merely juxtaposed functions, but reconfigured as an environment where diverse activities overlap.

Here, movement and dwelling intersect, and time is continuously renewed. By revealing the layered climate and culture embedded in the site, the architecture seeks to generate a new landscape grounded in continuity.
