HOUSE T (Under Construction, Expected Completion: 2026)

湖側から湖風、山側から南東風が吹き抜ける、35年前に宅地造成され築年数が似通う家屋が並ぶ住宅地に建つ。

70代の夫婦が暮らし、子世帯家族や地域住民が集まっても寛容である住まいを期待された。

敷地南東に大きく庭園を設け、建物は庭園をぐるりと囲うように円弧状に配置した。

庭園に接する縁側を軸とした動線計画とし、庭園を中心にして軒下、濡れ縁、広縁、居室へと放射状につながる。庭園に面して全面ガラス貼りとすることで、どこでも庭園の景色を楽しむことができる。季節の移り変わり、気候や時間の変化も暮らしそのものとして扱いたいと考えた。

住人が高齢であることから、年間を通じて温熱体感にストレスなく過ごせる室内環境をめざした。庭園に対する開放性と室内温熱の安定性を両立させるため、環境解析を行い、高断熱仕様とする。さらに熱容量の高い版築壁を内部に設けることで、外気温の変化に対して緩やかに反応し、安定した室内環境を提供する。

The house is situated in a residential neighborhood developed 35 years ago, surrounded by homes of a similar age.

It benefits from natural ventilation, with breezes blowing from the nearby lake and southeastern winds sweeping down from the mountains.

Designed for a couple in their 70s, the clients desired a generous and welcoming home capable of comfortably accommodating gatherings of their children’s families and local neighbors.

A spacious garden is positioned on the southeast side of the plot. The building is arranged in a sweeping arc that gently encircles it.

The spatial circulation is centered around the engawa (traditional Japanese veranda) bordering the garden.

From the garden at its core, the spaces radiate outward—transitioning smoothly from the area under the deep eaves, to the nure-en (open veranda), the hiro-en (enclosed broad veranda), and finally into the living spaces.

By employing floor-to-ceiling glass along the garden-facing facade, the landscape can be enjoyed from anywhere in the house.

Our intention was to embrace the changing seasons, shifting weather, and the passage of time as integral elements of daily life itself.

Considering the residents' senior age, we prioritized an indoor environment that ensures stress-free thermal comfort year-round.

To harmonize this expansive openness to the garden with stable indoor temperatures, we conducted rigorous environmental simulations and implemented high-performance insulation.

Furthermore, by integrating interior rammed earth walls—chosen for their high thermal mass—the building responds gently to fluctuations in outdoor temperatures, maintaining a consistently stable and comfortable indoor environment.
