滋賀県守山市に建つ、鮮魚店を営む夫婦と子ども二人のための職住一体住居。

1階を店舗とそれに連続する台所・食堂、2階を暮らしの中心となるリビングスペースとする構成とした。

住居部分は1、2階ともに間仕切りを設けず、吹抜を介してひと続きの一室空間としている。
上下階が緩やかにつながり、生活と営みが立体的に重なり合う。

敷地の南西側には田園風景が広がり、その先に比良山系を望む。
夕陽が山際へと沈む情景は格別であり、本計画では「夕陽との親密な関係」を住まいの主題とした。

以前の住まいで用いられていた、施主の父が闘病中に描いた障子絵や襖絵に深く心を動かされた。
それらを新しい住まいにも継承し、時間と記憶を空間に重ねることを試みている。

鮮やかな紅葉を描いた障子に夕陽が透過し、室内が朱に染まるひととき。
その情景を思い描きながら、光の受け止め方を設計の軸とした。

また、鮮魚店という営みを背景に、この住まいが地域に開かれた「台所」となることを志向した。
店舗前面には大きな軒下空間を設け、軒下から濡縁、和室、食堂へと連続する構成としている。

軒下と食堂は、料理教室や友人・地域との交流の場として機能する。
職住一体の住まいを、地域と豊かにつながる場として建築的にかたちづくることを目指した。

A mixed-use residence in Moriyama, Shiga, for a couple who run a fresh fish shop and their two children.

The ground floor accommodates the retail space together with a kitchen and dining area directly connected to it, while the second floor serves as the primary living space in the sense of daily dwelling.

The residential area on both floors is conceived without partitions, forming a single continuous volume connected through a void.
Life and work overlap three-dimensionally within this open spatial framework.

To the southwest, the site opens onto expansive rice fields with distant views toward the Hira mountain range.
The sunset descending behind the mountains is particularly striking, and an intimate relationship with the evening sun became the central theme of the project.

The client’s father had painted sliding screen and fusuma artworks during his illness in their former home.
Moved by these works, the family wished to carry them forward into the new residence, layering memory and time within the architecture.

As the vivid autumn leaves depicted on the shoji screens are illuminated by the setting sun, the interior is momentarily bathed in deep vermilion light.
The house was designed with this scene in mind, shaping the architecture as a vessel for light.

Rooted in the daily practice of the fish shop, the residence also aspires to function as a “social kitchen” for the community.
A generous eave space is placed in front of the shop, extending seamlessly to the engawa, a tatami room, and the dining area.

The eave space and dining area accommodate cooking classes and gatherings with friends and neighbors.
Through architecture, the project seeks to cultivate a rich relationship between this live-work dwelling and the surrounding community.
