京都市上京区に建つ、再建築不可の敷地を活用した4棟の平屋による住宅リノベーション計画

​

京都市上京区、古い町並みが残る住宅地。
路地の奥に、4棟の小さな平屋がひっそりと並ぶ。

道路に面さず、正面を持たないこの建築群は、更新の途絶えた、閉じた環境の中にあった。

内部には、度重なる増改築によって生まれた複雑な構成と、敷地の傾斜に由来する多くの段差が残されていた。
細い路地を抜けた先に、突然あらわれる明るい庭。
その緊張と緩和の関係が、この場所の核となっている。

計画では、「路地と庭の連なり」「高低差」「棟の集合関係」を読み取り、その関係性を損なうことなく、むしろ豊かに引き出すよう再構成している。

4棟はそれぞれ独立した住戸でありながら、内路地と庭を介して、ゆるやかにつながる構成とした。
庭は境界を設けず、住人同士が行き交う余白とし、果樹を植えることで、暮らしがにじみ出る場としている。

各住戸は、既存の構造を活かしながら、視線の抜けと天窓による光を丁寧に配置し、小さな平屋でありながら、奥行きと広がりを感じられる空間としている。

床の段差や勾配天井は、敷地の高低差に抗うのではなく、素直に受け入れることで、身体的なスケールの変化として住空間に取り込んだ。

かつての増改築の痕跡は、混乱ではなく、この場所に蓄積された時間として捉え直し、路地と庭、光と陰影の関係の中に静かに再編している。

閉じながら、つながる。
この場所に内在していた関係性を、そのまま住まいへと引き出した計画である。
 

Located in a quiet residential area of Kamigyo-ku, Kyoto, four small single-story houses stand quietly along a narrow alley.

Without facing a public street and lacking a defined façade, this cluster of buildings existed in a closed condition, left without renewal.

Inside, a complex spatial structure had emerged through repeated extensions, along with numerous level differences shaped by the sloping site. Beyond a narrow, dim alley, a bright garden suddenly appears—this contrast between compression and release forms the essence of the place.

The project carefully reads the continuity between alley and garden, the topographical differences, and the collective relationship among the buildings, reconstructing them in a way that preserves and enriches these inherent connections.

Each unit functions independently, yet is loosely connected through inner alleys and a shared garden. The garden is left without rigid boundaries, becoming a common ground where everyday life quietly overlaps.

Within each dwelling, existing structures are retained while openings and skylights are precisely placed, allowing light and visual depth to expand the small volumes.

Level differences and sloped ceilings are not resisted, but embraced as expressions of the site’s topography, introducing a bodily sense of scale into the living spaces.

Traces of past alterations are reinterpreted not as disorder, but as an accumulation of time, gently reorganized through the interplay of alley, garden, light, and shadow.

Closed, yet connected—a dwelling that draws out the latent relationships embedded in the site.
