相国寺門前町の町家
 

延床面積はわずか13坪。
小さな平屋だからこそ、この住まいでは入浴の時間をできるだけ豊かにすることを考えた。

一日の仕事を終えたあと、
本を読みながら、映像を見ながら、音楽を聴きながら、あるいはお酒を片手に、
脚を伸ばしてゆっくり湯に浸かる。
それは浴室というより、リビングで過ごすようなくつろぎの時間に近い。

浴槽のそばの窓を開けると、すぐウッドデッキへ出ることができる。
湯に浸かることと、外の空気に触れることが自然につながり、入浴の時間にもうひとつの広がりを与えている。

室内には間仕切りを設けず、玄関からバスリビングまで同じタイルを貼り込み、空間に連続性をもたせた。
勾配天井によって、小さな面積の中にもおおらかな広がりを感じられる。

まるで大きなバスルームに暮らすような町家。
相国寺門前町のなかで、そんな新しい日常のかたちを提案している。
 

A compact single-story house with a total floor area of just 13 tsubo (approx. 43 m²).
Rather than dividing this limited space into separate rooms, the design concentrates richness into the act of bathing, enhancing the overall quality of daily life.

Here, one can read, watch films, listen to music, or enjoy a drink while soaking in the tub.
Stretching out the body, the bath becomes an extension of the living space—a place for rest rather than merely a functional room.

A window beside the bathtub opens directly onto a wooden deck, allowing a seamless transition to the open air.
Bathing and exposure to the outside environment are connected as a continuous experience.

The interior is conceived as a single, undivided space.
From the entrance to the bath-living area, the same tiled floor runs throughout, while a sloped ceiling gives the small volume a sense of spatial depth and openness.

A machiya that feels like living within a vast bathroom.
A quiet reconfiguration of dwelling, centered on the act of bathing.
